Reba Weiss was highly recommended by other attorneys and her services were exactly the type of excellent work and advocacy that every client should receive from their attorney. Reba is not only a highly effective and ethical attorney, she is also a wonderful person. From the initial client interview to the very end of the case, Reba worked hard on all deadlines, while also setting realistic goals about the outcome of the case. Throughout the process, she was reachable by phone and email, often responding within the same day and willing to answer on-going questions and address new developments in the case. Her approach to interacting with opposing counsel is also very impressive and strikes the right balance of zealous advocacy for her client while also remaining highly professional and driving to a resolution. Reba also referred me to another very helpful attorney, always keeping the best interest of the client in mind. I highly recommend Reba and her personable and effective approach to resolving employment legal issues.

Reba Weiss was an absolute hero for me. First off, I felt completely in the dark and hopeless due to a wrongful termination from my previous employer. I was accused of something that severely affected by ability to find employment in finance due to my employer putting a derogatory disclosure on my public search that was not true. I found Reba Weiss who offered a free consultation and believed I had a good case. Reba was extremely diligent on providing feedback, responded to my emails usually within the same hour, and even went the extra mile to fight for justice. We finally negotiated a generous settlement and they removed my termination to resignation. Reba taught me life lessons through this case I will always remember and I couldn't of been happier to have her as my attorney. Thank you Reba Weiss!

Reba was very easy to work with. She listened to me and asked questions that helped us both understand our plan to address my issue. We had a good resolution. I highly recommend her.

I was referred to Reba Weiss by the staff of a well-respected labor lawyer who was too busy for the consult I needed. Reba reviewed an agreement at short notice and gave me very useful feedback. I found her to be smart, experienced, and astute, and her perspective was extremely helpful. Being from the East Coast myself, I appreciated her directness and clarity, and I found our conversation reassuring. I hope to never need a lawyer for a discrimination situation again, but if I did, I would definitely turn to Reba, and I would not hesitate to recommend her to family and friends.

Reba Weiss has been a great partner throughout the entire journey of my case. She took the necessary steps to ensure that I was being protected from all angles, which was more than what I had asked for. Most importantly, I was able to proceed through the case with ease of mind.

I called Barbara to ask questions about WA employment laws and my working rights. After a few questions, she told me I should quit my job and not do anything. I tried to explain a few things about my situation and she then rudely hung up on me as I was asking a question. I have never had to call an attorney to ask questions before and would not recommend calling her for help. Telling someone they should quit their job after asking 3 questions does not seem like good legal advice but then again, first timer here! Are all attorneys like this?

I'm sorry but I cannot take every case that calls the firm. I pride myself on being selective about the cases I do take.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
