Daniel F. Zigray is the principal attorney for The Zigray Law Office, LLC. The focus of his law practice for many years has been probate litigation. He is an attorney licensed in the State of Ohio since 1991 and became a partner in the firm that came to be Kolb & Zigray. He opened the suburban Toledo law practice of The Zigray Law Office, LLC to be more accessible and to allow his clients to avoid the hassle of going downtown. The Zigray Law Office, LLC is located in the Arrowhead Park Business Community in Maumee, Ohio.
Early in his career Daniel was a prosecutor where he gained valuable experience in trial practice, successfully taking many cases to trial during that time. Now, Daniel's practice is exclusively in the areas of Contesting Wills and Trusts, Estate and Inheritance Disputes, Misuse and Abuse of Power of Attorney cases, Claims against Executors and other Fiduciaries, and other matters litigated in the Probate Courts in the State of Ohio. Most of these cases he handles on a percentage or contingency fee basis.
Daniel has handled Will Contests and other probate litigation claims in many of the different Probate Courts throughout Ohio. He has literally had cases from the east state line (Jefferson County) to the west state line (Williams County) and from the north state line (Lucas County) down to the central/southern part of the state (Clark County and Montgomery County) and many other jurisdictions in between. He has extensive experience in all phases of litigating contested probate matters from the filing of the initial pleadings, through discovery and depositions, and also taking these cases to trial in front of a jury.
From 2002 to 2010, Daniel was a regular speaker on topics related to Probate Litigation at the monthly meetings of the Probate Committee of the Toledo Bar Association and has also planned and spoken at seminars on probate litigation topics for the Ohio Bar Association CLE Institute.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
