Building a compelling legal argument - one that is persuasive to juries and appellate courts alike - requires expert legal research, writing and presentation skills.

In practice since 1987, I have represented both civil and criminal clients at trial and on appeal for more than 20 years. I provide services as strategic co-counsel at trial and in state or federal appeals for your clients. I am passionate about my work and confident in my ability to deliver the quality services that can free you to focus on your strengths and give you a tactical advantage.

Whether you are seeking assistance for an appeal or a time constraint is preventing you from giving every part of a trial the attention it deserves, contact me to arrange a free consultation. With offices in Denver and Aspen, I can represent clients and co-counsel with attorneys throughout Colorado.

As a litigator, I have handled a substantial array of legal cases, from complex commercial litigation to plaintiffs' personal injury, products liability, domestic relations, and criminal defense. As an appellate lawyer, I have represented clients at every level, obtaining results in reported cases before the Colorado Court of Appeals, the Colorado Supreme Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit.

I provide expert legal research and writing skills for motions, proposed orders, discovery requests, appeals and writs. As strategic co-counsel, I can help you predict and respond to the significant legal issues that can make or break your case.

I believe what sets me apart is the combination of trial and appellate experience. At trial, I not only understand what it takes to build a persuasive case, but I think like an appellate lawyer, helping you create and perfect the record you need should your case end up on appeal. On appeal, I use my trial lawyer skills to tell your clients story, with arguments that are compelling, persuasive and backed up by legal analysis that is thoroughly researched and analytically sound.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
