They delve into areas of law they're not well enough informed on. They will stumble along trying to figure out on the fly. Don't grasp or ascertain facts and they jump to conclusions. Don't want to fight or do the work. Predisposed to outcome before they understand case, creating self-fulfilling prophecy. Like many small firms, they take on more cases than they can properly litigate. Guarantees you're wasting your money and time. If not a slam dunk case with decent value, they want to walk away with retainer as quickly as they can, looking for bigger fish to fry

I was less than impressed with my representation by the Weisberg law firm. He permitted my case to be transferred to most hostile plaintiffs forum in Pa, Lancaster County, when it should have been transferred to my home county of Chester County, or even York County. Defendant was a Holy Roller and known in the "Born Again" Christian circles of Lancaster County. Mediator was from Lancaster County and did nothing but tell horror stories about how bad LanCo juries are and di little to nothing to lean on Defendants. Yes, I settled, but Lancaster County was the very worse venue my case could have been moved to!

They thought I was joking about my civil rights matter and wasted my time. These guys are a joke in screening potential clients.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
