4.5 out of 5 stars

When I decided to deal with a painful almost 3 decade old issue, I did my research, and called a number of law firms with the purpose of finding out what I could do. My first call was to Attorney Michael Rothman and knowing what I know now, I should have hired him directly after speaking to him. He heard me, straightforwardly stated what could be done, and told me exactly how much he would charge for his services. The other firms I contacted were either slow to get back to me or gave me the runaround, attempting to capitalize on a very painful issue. Attorney Rothman and his team filed all of required paperwork, and earlier this week, he represented me in court brilliantly. Attorney Rothman and his team have forever changed my life for the better. Moreover, after my positive outcome, Attorney Rothman followed with me and provided invaluable insight on next steps, an action beyond the scope of our contract. Hire Attorney Rothman and his team! Mike, his paralegal is pretty great too! I should have the first time I spoke to Attorney Rothman. He was direct and clearly articulated his expertise in complicated legal matters. He saved my life. Today, because of him, I am free in body and spirit.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
