Jeff has been my attorney for over 20 years and I know I always have a conscientious, prepared and knowledgable attorney supporting me and my family. He prepared my will to protect my assets, he closed on my homes and made sure my largest purchase was done properly. He has handled disputes and business agreements and he has helped with the occasional speeding ticket over the years... Jeff is very knowledgeable and I trust him with my family.

When my uncle died and left me his estate, I didn't know where to start or what to do first. The staff of Voelkl Law guided me through the process from beginning to end. I am so grateful for their help, and highly recommend the firm.

Jeff Voelkl has been mine and my family's personal attorney for the past 15 years - at least. We have used and recommended his services in good times and in bad. I have always found him to be a Godsend. He has a tremendous knowledge base and a wonderful temperament which calms tense situations, often adds humor at the right moment and allows all parties to pause, consider and decide their own course. He is a true counselor- at- law. Jeff is also my corporate attorney. In part with his expert guidance, my partner and I successfully merged with another corporation. All proceedings went off without hitch or delay. I would be happy to speak with anyone about working with this firm.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
