Born and raised in Michigan, Theresa Santos has lived in Nevada since 2005. She began her legal career as a bankruptcy attorney and briefly practiced criminal law before settling on civil litigation, defending complex motor vehicle and propertly liability claims. She has handled cases in local, state and federal courts, inluding the Nevada Supreme Court, where she won an important precedent setting case in In re Contrevo, 123 Nev. 20 (2007).
