Lian frequently lectures for several organizations who are dedicated to assisting elder Chinese in New York including The Alzheimer's Association Caring Kind, Catholic Charities and Hamilton Madison House. In addition, Lian is very involved with the Long Island Chapter of OCA, a non-profit organization helping Asian Americans in the community.
Lian is a graduate of the CUNY School of Law, and a member of the school's elder law clinic, where she was named as the clinic's first Borchard Foundation fellow, an honor bestowed on individuals who have shown a commitment to working on aging issues in conjunction with the law In addition, Lian has been named a Super Lawyer Rising Star in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 and profiled in the Top Women Attorneys in New York supplement of the New York Times.
