James V. O'Brien handles a wide variety of litigation work in commercial dispute resolution and a number of subspecialty areas including admiralty, environmental, and health care law. As a certified public accountant with an advanced tax law degree, Mr. O'Brien brings a deep business background to his commercial litigation practice. Over the years, his practice has broadened to include the subspecialty areas mentioned.
His work takes him to a variety of litigation venues around the country. While regularly practicing in federal and state courts in eastern Missouri and southern Illinois, Mr. O’Brien also appears in trial courts and appellate courts around the country, and even had the opportunity to argue an important matter before the U.S. Supreme Court. Committed to his practice, he authors articles in his areas of interest.
Mr. O’Brien was selected for inclusion in Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers 2005 and 2008-2013.
