5.0 out of 5 stars

My wife and I encountered The Suriano Law Firm for a child agreement order. Susan's negotiation skills are second to none! She never once had to be reminded of our case details. Susan was very upfront with us from day one and was completely spot on when explaining how everything was going to pan out. We ended up with a mediation on the day of court without having to go to trial. She spoke up and offered insight to the GAL when necessary to collaborate. The GAL loved her feedback and, in turn, those ideas went in our favor. Susan is 100% for the betterment of the situation and does not get caught up in the drama of battles. She is very welcoming, warming and extremely knowledgeable! She is timely in her responses when we reach out and are needing advice. We still check in with Susan from time to time because she has become a friend. She remembers our daughter's name and is up to date with our lives. She is a very caring and compassionate person. My wife and I have a saying and its always "in Susan we trust".

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
