I contacted this law firm as a tenet. The lady told me they only represent landlords. I asked who to turn to about a home that is inhabitable. Was again reminded they don’t represent tenants, contact the bar association, she is not an attorney with a rude tone and then hung up in my face. If she represented my company, she would no longer work for me.

I felt like she really advocated for me! Great to work with, and pretty spot on for how the whole process worked. I would highly recommend!

Hired Rebecca just for her to pass off my custody case to another lawyer in her firm at the end of my case. I never was notified via email or mail of the change or the final court date and so i missed the trial and my whole case was dismissed. I paid her front desk assistant the final payment of $1000. I later on got a bill stating i still owed $1000 and when i asked how she said since she passed my case off she can't talk to me anymore over any of it. I never heard from her again, but definitely had to reapply for custody again.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
