The Gibbs Law Firm was retained for a Subcontract and Teaming Agreement writeup for my business which they meet being tentative to my needs and calling making sure all business aspects were meet. Even though Mr. Gibbs had issues with the primary contractor not providing information, we finally came to an agreement. I really enjoyed working with Mr. Gibbs and Administrator Dametria.

The level of negligence this law firm has shown has been beyond despicable. I signed my contract and paid my retainer on May 20, 2022 for simple forms. This firm has made nothing but excuse after excuse after charging almost $4,000.00. Up to today, I still do not have the forms I paid for. They sent a terrible version filled with multiple grammatical errors which looked thrown together, back in Sept and I contacted to inform them that they needed to be corrected. I still have nothing. No response, no updates. I contacted 10-12 days ago and the legal assistant responded that she would inform Amir but even until today he has not contacted nor corrected. He has been extremely rude and dismissive during his verbal contact in the past. I see that others have had success but I have been greatly failed although I have remained patient and understanding throughout this process. This firm has cost me thousands in loss potential revenue and honestly it?s been an abhorrent experience. If he can not gain lots of money or notoriety from your case, he will not care at all. Please look else where. If I could give it zero stars, I would.

Oct 30, 2019 I wrote a review on Mr.Gibbs as Anonymous. I sited the difference I had experienced as his client in dealing with a contractor Capezio, . In the review I noted the circumstance that put my house in jeopardy. To date I have spoken with Mr. Gibbs on the matter and he went out of his way in readdressing the issue and even taking the time to clear up any misunderstanding and worked to clear the matter with the contractor and the banking institution Wells Fargo to ensure that Capezio received the negotiated upon amount and the Bank released the funds. It has been a very tiring experience and I very am grateful that Mr. Gibbs explained his positron and worked diligently to clear the matter up making it a win for all parties involved.

I hired this lawyer to complete a mediation between my contractor and lender dispute. He gave me what seemed like a fifteen page contract that made sure it covered everything that he could get paid for. Then he went on to do a horrible job in representing me. He made contact with me concerning the case only by phone mostly when driving. He never did any real work on the case to get things done(motions, disagreement on the failure to arbitration which was in the contract). I went personally to the court house and got all the doc concerning the conflict and provided it to his office. The night before the mediation he called and asked me to bring what I had to the mediation. He never met with me to go over the case , showed up late to the mediation...it was a disaster. Yet, we continued on with us walking away, and then returning with the opposing party willing to settle. All Mr. Gibbs had to do was submitt an agreement letter, and confirm that the bank would release the funds ( I called and confirmed to move things along after two weeks be cause he made no effort.) Mr. Gibbs failed to send the agreement letter and constantly told me that he had other cases as f I was not paying him over $300.00 an hour. Our last conversation ended after a week of my trying to get in touch with him and finally getting in touch with him only to be told that he was going out of town taking his child to school. His inactions cost me of money lost, the sell of my home , and my advantage in the mediation. Having to start over with another lawyer. Mr. Gibbs made several promises on how he would handle the case in our initial meeting but failed to deliver on any and all of them.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
