I had a case that I had used another lawyer for and I wasn't getting anything from them. I called the Carter law firm and explained my case and what I wanted to be done. I'm happy that they won my case for me and I don't have any lose ends to worry about down the road. thank you for all of your help.

I recently contacted the Carter Law Firm seeking help on a very serious matter. Attorney Carter went over all my concerns and provided helpful and insightful suggestions on how to prepare for my upcoming meeting with the SSA. She provided step-by-step suggestions on how to proceed confidently with relevant issues facing me. My meeting outcome with the SSA was positive and I have Attorney Lynn Carter to thank. Thank you Attorney Carter for giving me ?peace of mind? when I was facing a very relevant dilemma. I would definitely recommend The Carter Law Firm to anyone seeking legal advice or legal representation. I am glad that The Carter Firm has a convenient location right here on the Eastern Shore in Salisbury, Maryland.

I WAS FORTUNATE TO SECURE THE CARTER LAW FIRMS?S SERVICES TO HELP OUT WITH A PRETTY OVERWHELMING AND EMOTIONAL DIVORCE ISSUE WHERE, I FELT, MY FUTURE WAS AT STAKE. I WAS ALSO CONCERNED ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF AN OUTCOME THAT WAS UNFAIR AND UNJUST. I FELT THE THREAT OF LOSING EVERYTHING THAT I HAD WORKED JOINTLY, FOR SEVERAL YEARS, TO BUILD AND SECURE, BUT MS. CARTER?S LEGAL ADVICE WAS PRICELESS. MS. CARTER DOESN?T SIMPLY TRY TO WIN YOUR CASE, AT ANY COST, BUT SHE ALSO TRIES TO COMBINE HER LEGAL EXPERTISE WITH WHAT IS ?BEST? FOR HER CLIENT. BECAUSE OF HER INTEGRITY, IN HER WORK ETHICS, AND HER GENUINE CONCERN FOR HER CLIENT?S WELL-FAIR I WOULD NOT ONLY RECOMMEND THE SERVICES OF THE CARTER LAW FIRM AND MS CARTER, TO OTHERS, BUT I WOULD ALSO HIRE HER AGAIN! When I told my son, a Ph. D marine biologist, who knows how to search for the best, of my need for comprehensive estate planning, he found the Carter Law Firm. Initially Atty. L Carter listened and took notes, asking an occasional question to clarify my issues of concern. With that session, I knew I was in the right place!! She was working to understand my needs and no indication of a charge!! It was a marked contrast to a firm that in response to my inquiry about a Living Trust and a Will, replied "bring your check book and then we will talk". When my estate needs were understood, Atty. Carter gave me advice about the best way to legally express my concerns. Finally after my needs were clear, I was presented with an invoice that was unbelievably fair for the amount of work to be done. The firm diligently prepared a complete comprehensive estate plan notebook and filed titles with the state, advised me on getting an out- of-state real estate title filed without an addition to the initial invoice!!! When I saw an out of state lawyer re the title transfer, he was so impressed by the completeness of the Carter prepared plan that he wanted her contact information!!Then he told me his firm would have had to charged much more for a less complete plan compared to the Carter comprehensive plan!!! The Carter Firm is indeed excellent!!! Atty. L. Carter is a highly professional, amazingly diligent person, who cares about the work and the service she provides her clients!! I have recommended her to friends and Sorority sisters without any hesitation. Also, of note is that the physical setting for this firm is comfortable, relaxing and conducive to doing business!! This firm basically took my money and did not do the work! IT was horrible. I had to hire another attorney and actually pay twice. This firm took my retainer fee and never did the work! I had my current attorney to redo everything! Save yourself the headache. It was a case of child custody, and I could have lost my child by them NOT responding in a timely manner to the courts and other stuff that my current attorney identified. Then once i fired her, she had the audacity to send me an email and said, well I am sorry I did not give your case enough time! It was soooooo much more she did not do, that if I did not already have knowledge from working at the courts, I would have LOST my case!!! Please please please please, exercise your decisions on selecting a lawyer with CAUTION!!!!! I was heart broken, because we were nothing but kind to these people and paid on TIME! NEVER LATE!!! I feel robbed!!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
