Even in the shadows of beautiful Mount Vail, trouble can haunt you. When you are in trouble with an arrest or accident, call the criminal defense and personal injury law firm of Mark S. Rubinstein, P.C.

I am in my 18th year of practicing law. Early on I worked for the Colorado Drug Court and as a defense attorney for large insurance companies. These experiences taught me how to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a case. People in trouble need a partner with a clear head and sharp focus. My experience and knowledge make me a valuable partner.

Do not face criminal charges with a lawyer who has not proved ready in the courtroom. I have defended scores of people against drug offenses (including possession, distribution and manufacturing), DUI/DWI, assault, battery, theft, fraud and embezzlement. My goal is simple: take your side and protect your interests. I am proud of my results.

Many of my clients have been in accidents. The worst of these involve wrongful death, but there are hundreds of nonfatal injuries involving motorcycles, cars, and trucks. People get injured just walking down the street, or setting foot on unsafe property. As your attorney I will do everything I can to get you back on your feet.

Always, when choosing a lawyer, pick someone with a good mind, a readiness to communicate with you, and most of all, courtroom experience with the trouble you are experiencing.

In addition to Avon, I maintain four offices in our part of the state. I can offer you a free initial consultation. We will make time for you even after hours. And we accept payment by credit card.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
