5.0 out of 5 stars

I was going through a partnership dispute on a company that I was a co-owner on. I interviewed and sat down with over 15 lawyers. All of the lawyers I talked to had some good advise or would forward me to a different lawyer who would be of more assistance. However, when I met with Les, the consultation was the most informative out of all the others. I felt like Les knew the statutes over this case than any other and that overall was the most knowledgeable in business law. He laid out my options for me and let me know the consequences for each path. He gave me enough information to make an educated decision on how to treat the case. Because of Les, I was able to get the best possible outcome of the case. I wouldn't have been able to do it without him and his team. Where a situation like the one I was in would cause me to be extremely stressed, a lot of that stress was removed by the re-assurance of Les and his team. Great communication through out the entire process. If you are in need of a business lawyer, I couldn't recommend this law firm enough. Truly outstanding.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
