I hired Mr John W Lawit for my immigration case. I've been in America for more than 20 years and every year i have to fill a form for employment authorization. I tried to seek for permanent residence but immigration office closed the case. Me, hired Mr John and Mrs Jenny was the best decision I've made. He explained me all step to take and all paper I need. Today I have my green card without interview, and it was a great success I am grateful to God who put John and his team to my path. I will definitely recommend John W Lawit to anyone who is seeking any immigration work.

My husband and I had a free consultation with Attorney John W Lawit overseas. That free consultation lasted almost an hour. He was very generous with his time and in giving out information we needed. We did not feel rushed. We felt so confident they were a good fit as they demonstrated that they not just after the money and was wholeheartedly there to help. We ended up hiring him when we were ready. Everything went smoothly. They prepared all our documents, we did not have to worry about a thing. They reminded us of the documents we needed and was able to gather them all in time for the interview. With the proper documentation and preparation, the adjudicator did not have to ask us a bunch of questions. In fact, when we walked into our interview, his intro was "everything looks good here" pointing at the documents he had the first submission and that "this interview is just gonna be short." I had my green card on the 14th month mark. Marriage based to USC, AOS from B1/B2

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
