Erwin Mark Stephens was perfect. After my car accident, I attempted to negotiate my case alone at first but soon realized that was a mistake. By the time I realized I needed help, I had difficulty getting a lawyer to pick up my case due to the aggressive reputation of the opposing insurance company. But not Mr. Stephens. I was so relieved to find a confident and competent lawyer willing to go up against one of the largest car insurance companies in business. Best part about it was he took care of pretty much everything. He would check in periodically to keep me updated on the status of the case and I knew he was working hard behind the scenes which was great because I was busy recovering from my injuries, getting back to work, starting a doctoral program, care-taking for an elderly parent and more. He made sure I didn't have to worry about anything! Ultimately, he negotiated an amazing payment for me (much larger than I expected) when the other lawyers in town were too scared to touch my case. He came highly recommended to me and I'm SO GLAD I found him and his team. The process was super easy and I'm finally able to move on with piece of mind. I never write reviews, but I was so grateful that I felt compelled to write this one and share it everywhere. If you're looking for a confident and competent lawyer, give him a call...you'll see what I mean.

No one should be left confused after an accident. You might not even have answers to questions about how you got to the accident scene because they happen so fast; sometimes in less than a micro second. An experienced collusion legal counsel can handle such legal questions and figure out the headache of making you whole again. There are a few reliable ones in town. Attorney Stephens is one of that few. He got me top $$$ for my injuries and I highly recommend this law firm.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
