This spring I was faced with bankruptcy. I cannot offer greater praise to Steven Palmer & this law firm. Steven is highly detailed & knows all the ins & outs of bankruptcy. He remained in contact, represented my interests to the courts & creditors. The process was smooth and stress free. If you think you may need legal financial advise, please get hold of Steven. You will not regret it.

Steve was very friendly and knowledgeable in his work. He was extremely knowledgeable and was understanding and caring of my situation. The 7 Steps to a 720 Credit Score was also a huge selling point in deciding to go with Steve as my attorney. Couldn?t have asked for my bankruptcy to go through any smoother.

When we first met Steve and his team, we had our then, 13-month-old son with us and he made us feel right at home. He was very understanding and had a desire to help. We started our process of pre-bankruptcy paperwork and made our retainer payment and life hit us hard. We contacted Steve and he was wonderful in guiding us and reassuring us that we are still on the track to file and we still had him on retainer. The time came where we were able to file, and we had meeting for finalizing the assets with Steve and then our meeting of creditors. I will admit, going through this was very intimidating and the chance we were afforded to start over, was scary. We came to him with heavy credit issues and we always walked away feeling like we were on the right track with our path of bankruptcy. Steve was always a phone call or email away, as was his assistant Dotty. They both have a way to calm the frantic or panicked client in situation of high stress. I cannot speak highly enough of Steve and his team. His cost of services was very fair, and we never felt pressured as we made payments towards our fees. Prior to the bankruptcy discharge, our one car broke down. We called Steve immediately asking how we could receive a loan, if we hadn't had it discharged yet. He had a reputable dealer and contact for us to reach out to and within 24 hours we had a new, reliable vehicle. More than anything, Steve and his team were there for us every step of the way. They do this every day and it shows. They care, they know how to help and what to say. We never felt as though we didn't have information we needed or like we were bothering him or his team. if you are at all curious to how he can help you, call his office. You will not be disappointed.

I attended free consultations with multiple firms and I couldn?t be happier with my choice of Curtis, Casteel & Palmer, LLC to lead me through a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Though my specific case seemed to be a bit more complex than average since I own a business and have some intellectual property, Steve Palmer facilitated and made the entire process painless for me. He provided thorough and effective communication to me so I always knew where I stood in relation to my prospective discharge. Also, he was extremely patient with me (and I asked a lot of questions). After the consistently superb service I received from Steve Palmer, I strongly recommend Steve Palmer and the Curtis, Casteel & Palmer to anyone facing the humbling experience of a bankruptcy.

Steven Marlow Palmer. This attorney filed as a supplemental to his motion for sanctions against me as a Creditor in a -bankruptcy-, my Complaint in a personal injury civil suit against Debtor for a felonious assault with a deadly weapon. However Palmer not only filed the Complaint, but also my extensive medical records of Veterans Administration treatment of service-connected PTSD going from 2006 to present! These highly sensitive mental health treatment records were filed as part of the Complaint in the civil suit, however they were all filed UNDER SEAL. Somehow Palmer got most of these extensive, protected, and highly confidential medical records, and filed them in the bankruptcy case as docket# 127, all fully open and available to the public without court order. An act of pure maliciousness which is in violation of federal -and- state privacy laws, both criminal and civil. It does not matter why Palmer did it. The fact is, he did it. Overtly and willfully. For the purpose of endeavoring to permanently damage me in manifold ways, and succeeding. And in direct violation of the Court?s most prominent and stringently-enforced rules, this, not even considering the violation of several other federal and state laws. Google and Lexis-Nexis have already crawled this filing and it's only a matter of time before they are OCRed for searching and I will never get another job again. Why? Because Lexis-Nexis is the go-to for reputational information on potential employees and has the most astute codes who comb all the internet. I have now filed an ethics complaint with the WA Bar, and am about to file federal and state criminal complaints against Palmer.

I was put in contact with the Curtis firm when I finally decided that bankruptcy was my only option out of the mess I'd gotten myself into. I was extremely fortunate to find Steven Palmer. He and his assistant, Nadine Long, were very nice and helped me through the whole procedure. They made the whole process much easier and less stressful than it could have been.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
