5.0 out of 5 stars

Matt was absolutely wonderful and understanding of my daughter’s minor in possession violation. He kept in contact and gave us both the guidance and advice needed throughout the two year process. We were out of state with a bright college student, and appreciate the counsel and representation by Matt. This process was not easy. Matt provided exactly what was needed, and was able to keep this violation and another infraction off of her record.

4.0 out of 5 stars

Matt was attentive to my case and provided timely correspondence while representing me in justice court for a traffic violation. I would have given them 5 stars except that I was surprised by a letter from the justice court (on my birthday no less) that I still had one more piece of information to provide within 14 days or all the efforts to keep the ticket off of my driving record would be for nothing. I would have appreciated a heads up on this before the court had to send me the letter but all in all, I think they did a good job.

I hired Matthew on multiple occasions to help with traffic related offenses, one last year and one at the time of writing this review, from the app Off The Record. Thanks to Matthew, I was able to secure a deal that was more advantageous than what the original charges would have been, on both occasions. Matthew was direct, vigilant in pursuing a bargain, and kind to me as well as his other clients; I knew as soon as he walked us through those courtroom doors that I had made the right choice. He kept a good line of communication, though it was very brief and yet I didn't mind because it never once affected the case and he told me all the necessary information I needed to know. They say once bitten twice shy, but for me, it goes twice bitten thrice confident, due to Mr. Brimley.

Worst lawyer I have ever used. Doesn’t return calls or emails. Very unprofessional and doesn’t care about his clients

Matt was horrible. He was completely insensitive of our situation and after accepting retainer, made comments that clearly indicated that he would not represent us well. He was ignored calls and emails.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
