Chris Schumacher is an associate attorney with Warner Law Offices and takes pride in creating and maintaining relationships with his clients in order to advocate aggressively for each and every one.  Combining his experience in law school, various areas of criminal and civil litigation and his work regarding mass torts, specifically the recent case against a large corporation where thousands of people unknowingly used contaminated water in West Virginia and Ohio resulting in the development of various diseases and even death, the choice to work in personal injury was easy.

Schumacher is the premises liability specialist within the firm.  His cases range from the common slip and fall accident, injury caused by a landlord’s failure to make a property safe, to security breaches resulting in injury.  Each case is unique and he is confident the attorney/client relationship is the key to success when delivering powerful representation.

Schumacher was born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia and graduated from George Washington High School in 1997.  He immediately attended West Virginia University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology.  Later, as a non-traditional student, he attended Appalachian School of Law, where he served as the president of the Alternate Dispute Resolution Society and competed in a national, and invitation only, tournament in 2014.  He earned his law degree and Master’s degree in Legal Studies from the same, rural institution. His focus in law school was advanced civil procedure and administrative law.  He is admitted to practice before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.

Beyond the hustle and bustle of practicing law, Schumacher’s number one passion in being a father to his son, Jonah.  Outside of fatherhood he enjoys playing golf and being a fan of West Virginia University athletics, especially on game day in Morgantown.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:
Comfort Level - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
Credentials - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
Cost - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
City - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?
