Hurst & Hurst has three major differences from most law firms. 1) The legal fees charged will be a truthful reflection of the actual time and cost you case requires. Unlike other lawyers, the Hurst's will not round up or overcharge you. Daniel and Rebecca are defined by integrity. 2) The Hursts view every case with an acute attention to detail. Daniel and Rebecca both have the innate ability to detect minor details (or inconsistencies) and appreciate the importance of those details. Every case is unique and given the attention it deserves. 3) They answer the phone.

Hurst and Hurst recently provided me with excellent representation and legal advice. I found them to be experienced and knowledgable. From the first meeting on I felt informed and confident about my options and how they'd represent me. I would highly recommend Hurst & Hurst to anyone seeking legal representation.

Hurst & Hurst helped me take care of a small legal issue. I was very pleased with both how professional and knowledgeable they were. I won't hesitate to use them in the future or refer family to them.

I hired Rebecca Hurst as my attorney in a family court case after meeting with her for a consultation and her informing me that my case would be easy to represent. I put my trust and my child?s future in her hands. The first red flag I should have noticed was when I received paperwork that needed to be signed with another clients info on it. Working in a busy office I know some things happen and just pushed the thought away. During my first court appearance with her representing me I had other red flags that begin to arise. Once court started I felt very unprepared. I had never been to court and didn?t know what to expect. I didn?t even know I would be asked questions. I pushed my thoughts to the side again because everything was kept the same at that time. The week before our final hearing I had one meeting with Rebecca and she assured me there would be ?no way? the judge would rule against me. I felt confident because she made it seem like there was nothing to worry about. She said the case would be ?easy? and we just had to say we wanted things to remain the same. At the final hearing (due to Covid we met in her office on zoom) everything was ruled against me. I lost two additional days with my child during the week, she had to change school districts to the district her father lived in, and I was ordered to pay child support. All Rebecca said after she hung up the zoom call was something along the lines of ?I?m sorry, if I would have thought it would have went different I would have fought more.? I cried my eyes out and couldn?t even get a word out because at the time I felt like my whole life had been ripped from me. I have never been in trouble and I have always took care of my child first before anything. After the final hearing I still kept her as representation and again that was a mistake. I would call/ email several times to her office and it would always seem like I was pushed to the side. I told her I wanted to go back and she told me pretty much there was no point I could never get things back and it would cost me an additional $3000. I would email her with things that would happen and how the other party wasn?t going by what was ordered as well as proving everything he said in court to be a lie. I would get no responses and instead would get a email for a bill. On the bill it would say that I was getting charged for her reading my emails. Yet, let me add I would never receive a response. I paid Hurst and Hurst nearly $4000 for nothing. If you are wanting someone that cares, will fight for you, and will prepare you, DO NOT seek counsel at this firm. Do your research and trust your gut.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
