Lawyer Overview

Mr. Becker's practice is principally in the commercial area with particular emphasis on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial transactions. Mr. Becker was recently recognized by Washington, D.C. Super Lawyers as one of the Top 100 lawyers in the Washington, D.C. Metro area and by Chambers USA 2006 as a Leading Individual in Virginia for his corporate/merger and acquisition practice. 

Mr. Becker was one of the founding members of the firm’s Northern Virginia office in 1985 and currently serves as Co-head of the firm's private equity practice. He has advised corporations on public and private merger transactions in the information technology, biotechnology, defense, satellite, hospitality, and health care industries. He has also organized venture capital funds and represented them in their investments, counseled corporations with respect to private placements of their securities, counseled clients on the purchase and sale of corporate assets, and established a variety of corporate and partnership entities to serve as vehicles for clients’ investments. Mr. Becker has worked with investors in structuring other types of equity investments in various commercial projects. He has advised institutional lenders in various types of lending transactions, including those secured by securities.
