Born in the rugged-beautiful countryside of South Africa, Albert J. Myburgh, Esq. is a zealous and dedicated attorney whose legal representation of his clients is as impassioned and unyielding as is the formidable landscape in which he was raised. These and other noteworthy qualities have enabled Albie to successfully practice matrimonial and family law for over 25 years.

Albie's distinguished legal career began fresh out of law school, when he joined one of South Africa's most preeminent matrimonial law firms. He subsequently became a partner of this firm and saw his legal expertise broaden to include complex commercial litigation and high-level financial transactions. However, Albie's mainstay and passion remained matrimonial and family law, as he continued his unflinching advocacy for individuals who were going through marital turmoil or a divorce.

Albie has worked for two prominent New York matrimonial practices specializing in sophisticated, high-end divorce cases. However, he has also done extensive work as a volunteer attorney for New York not-for-profit agencies that represent low income individuals and domestic abuse victims. While working for these agencies Albie appeared in the Family Court on a regular basis and is very familiar with their legal procedures.

Prior to his admission to the New York State Bar, Albie spent more than two years working for a venture capital firm in Hong Kong. This exposure provided him with invaluable financial expertise and the ability to deal with high-end divorces involving closely and family-held businesses, securities, stock options and other complex asset classes. Thus, Albie is experienced in handling divorces of high net worth individuals as well as individuals with limited assets or none at all.

Albie has extensive courtroom experience and has conducted numerous trials as the "first chair." He is admitted to the New York State and several Federal Appellate and District Courts. He has been certified as a designated advocate by NITA (The National Institute for Trial Advocates).

Although Albie is a formidable trial lawyer, he is also a skilled negotiator with both an authoritative, yet calming presence that immediately inspires confidence. He is known for his willingness to give his clients time to talk about their deepest emotions as he understands that this is often necessary to provide comfort and support to his clients in helping them to navigate through one of the most traumatic experiences of their lives.
