Lawyer Overview
Erek L. Barron leads the firm's criminal defense and investigations practice group. In addition to criminal defense and investigations, Mr. Barron also practices in the areas of business law, trusts & estates, and general civil litigation. Prior to his tenure with the firm, Mr. Barron served as Counsel and Policy Adviser to The Honorable Joseph R. Biden, Jr. and the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. Mr. Barron also has years of experience as a U.S. State and Federal prosecutor in Maryland and Washington D.C.
A native of the District of Columbia, Mr. Barron resides in Prince George's County, Maryland and graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park where he played Division I Atlantic Coast Conference football. After graduating from college Mr. Barron received his law degree from the George Washington University Law School and an advanced law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC.
Mr. Barron is an active citizen in the community, currently serving as a Director of the non-profit Legal Aid Bureau of Maryland, Inc. which provides legal services for the poor and counsels individuals suffering from the foreclosure crisis. He is also active with local Boys & Girls Clubs, occasionally coaching youth football in his spare time. A leader in the legal community, Mr. Barron is a governor of the Maryland State Bar Association, a Fellow of the Maryland Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation, and a member of the ABA Standing Committee on Legal Aid and Indigent Defense.
