Jeffrey McQuiston is a patent agent with Foley & Lardner LLP and is a member of the firm's Chemical & Pharmaceutical Practice. Prior to joining Foley & Lardner, Mr. McQuiston worked as a contract employee/advisor for Global Patent Group LLC. He was responsible for preparing US/PCT patents and a portfolio of medicinal chemistry patent applications (U.S. and foreign). He also assisted with patentability, freedom-to-operate, infringement and validity matters; opinion drafting; portfolio analysis; patentability assessments; and performing scientific and patentability analysis of biotechnology and pharmaceutical patent applications. Mr. McQuiston has experience in polymer based prosecution and patentability analysis. Mr. McQuiston earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Colorado State University (B.S., 1993). Mr. McQuiston's industry experience includes 14 years of research and development in the chemical arts, with extensive experience in designing and executing synthesis of small molecule organic compounds and optimizing bioactivity of such compounds. He also has experience with peptidomimetics directed at apoptosis and synthesis and design of small molecules bound to RNA monomers. Additional scientific endeavors are afforded in materials science including synthesis and characterization of fullerene based transition metal catalysts. As a patent agent, Mr. McQuiston is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and he is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
