Lawyer Overview

I grew up in a small town of approximately 2,300 people in north central Mississippi. My parents are hard-working people who taught me the importance of hard work, being active in church, and looking outward to the needs of other people. 

I graduated from high school in 1987, and played four years of Division II college baseball at Mississippi College. After obtaining my Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi College in 1991, I obtained my Juris Doctor degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1994.

I began my law career in Greenwood, Mississippi, and in 1998 I moved my practice and home to the Jackson, Mississippi area. I am a member of the Real Property and Family Law Sections. I have been admitted to practice law in all Mississippi state courts, the U.S. District Courts for Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi, the Mississippi Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. I am a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, and the local Hinds County and Rankin County Bar Associations.

I have extensive experience in real estate (both residential and commercial), family law (i.e., divorce, child custody, child visitation and child support, contempt and modification, and adoption); and wills and estates. Focusing on these three areas of the law, I am able to keep abreast of the changes in the law. I have extensive litigation experience in the courtroom, and I have proven to be extremely successful for my clients.            

Communication with my clients is vital to being successful. I want to know my client's thoughts, ideas, and values. At the beginning of each representation, I ask each client what end-result they desire from the representation. This enables me to "begin with the end in mind" so that the client and I can plot a course on how to achieve the objectives of the representation. I work very hard to ensure that each client is pleased with the end-result.  

Away from the office, my life revolves around my wife and daughter.  Additionally, I enjoy exercising, working in the yard, attending church, studying the Bible, and reading (something I  never thought I would do for enjoyment!). And my wife and I enjoy watching a good movie together.
