Lawyer Overview

Lucia joined the firm in April, 2008, and comes with an extensive background in working with families and children around the Puget Sound. Family law is a natural fit for Lucia's professional and personal background. She was the youngest of five children in a family impacted by divorce. Her father was the first man in his home state to win full-custody of his children. Lucia knows first hand the effect that divorce can have on the lives of children and parents. She also recognizes that life transitions can be positive when supported by the guidance of a caring professional.

Before going to law school, Lucia worked as a youth development director at the YMCA of Greater Seattle. There, she developed cutting edge programs to serve the needs of teenagers and their families in the community. Many of the children in these programs suffered from low self-esteem, negative body image, and some came from violent or abusive homes. Lucia worked with both the families and the children with compassion in an effort to inspire hope for their future and to challenge them to reach their highest potential.

Lucia aspires to reach her client's goals by listening, analyzing, and advocating. She enjoys complex analysis and problem solving. She has experience as a litigator in criminal court, immigration court, and family court. Her legal analysis of complex issues has been included in amicus briefings to the Washington Supreme Court and in briefs to the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th District. She is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and the American Immigration Law Association.

Lucia is an active volunteer in the Seattle area. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Reel Grrls, an organization that empowers young women from diverse communities to realize their power, talent and influence through media production. She and her husband serve as volunteer facilitators for the Program for Early Parent Support (PEPS). She also volunteers for the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project providing free legal services to low-income immigrants.

When she's not working, you may run into Lucia at the Children's museum or the Zoo with her husband and toddler son. In addition to raising her son, she is also raising two teenage cats: Ginseng and Lola. Lucia speaks Spanish and travels regularly to her ancestral country, Peru.

Recommendation  for Lucia Ramirez Levias
From cararaes:

I highly recommend Lucia Ramirez Levias to anyone who is involved in a family law case. I had a difficult, heartbreaking custody case and the support, professionalism and dedication I received from Lucia was unmatched. I truly felt she was there for me to answer my questions, support me and my concerns, educate me and also had the health of my child in her mind at all times. I was fairly uneducated in the process of the family court, and she made sure that I understood each and every step of our experiences. Her eloquence in hearings and her preparedness and knowledge of my case, even though one of many she was working on, was admirable and made me feel very safe and taken care of. Also, the professionalism of all her colleagues and the support I felt from the whole law firm was also very special and it became very clear that they are a family and care deeply about the families they are aiding. In an area like family law, where things can go awry often she maintains a wonderful understanding of the law and how it works and goes above and beyond to take care of her clients in an honest, professional manner.
