Lawyer Overview

Akio Yamada has in-depth knowledge of practices relating to the Japanese Antimonopoly Act. Between 1967 and 2008, Akio held a number of key positions at the Japan Fair Trade Commission, notably as secretary-general from 2000 to 2003 and as a commissioner from 2003 to 2008.

Akio has an extensive academic background as well. He was an adjunct instructor at the Chuo University Graduate School of Law from 1996 to 2003 and an affiliated professor at the Kyoto University Graduate School of Law from 2003 to 2004. In April 2009, he assumed the position of affiliated professor at Doshisha University Faculty of Law and its Graduate School of Law and at Waseda School of Commerce.
