Lawyer Overview

Lauren Baer is an associate in the Litigation/Controversy Department. She joined the firm in 2008.

Past Experience

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Baer completed a clerkship for the Honorable Robert D. Sack on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. She also worked as a summer associate at two firms in New York, where she wrote legal memoranda for complex civil litigations and sections of a brief for an international arbitration governed by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Previously, Ms. Baer was a policy consultant to The Albright Group LLC, the global strategy firm headed by former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. In this capacity, she counseled a sovereign state on whether securities fraud constitutes gross corruption under international and domestic law and advised a United Nations Special Envoy on minority rights protections for a transitional democracy.

During law school, she completed an internship with the Independent Inquiry Committee into the United Nations Oil-For-Food Programme and was the director of the Immigration Legal Services Clinic, where she represented refugees in asylum interviews, EOIR hearings, and Second Circuit appeals.

Community Involvement

Ms. Baer is the New York City alumni coordinator for the Association of Marshall Scholars, a member of the Yale Journal of International Law Advisory Board and a participant in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training.
