Ms. Spangenberg's practice consists of representing clients in criminal matters, government and internal investigations, and civil litigation pertaining to a variety of allegations, including fraud, bribery, and violations of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. Ms. Spangenberg has particular expertise in matters involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). In addition to her work on FCPA investigations and enforcement matters, she counsels clients on FCPA compliance issues, helps develop anti-corruption compliance programs, and performs anti-corruption due diligence in mergers and acquisitions.
On a pro bono basis, Ms. Spangenberg has represented victims of domestic violence in seeking Civil Protective Orders in the District of Columbia and Maryland courts.
Ms. Spangenberg is a recipient of the firm's Pickering Fellowship. As a Pickering Fellow, she practiced law in the Consumer Fraud and Financial Abuse Unit at the Legal Counsel for the Elderly (LCE). LCE is the primary provider of free legal services to low-income seniors in the District of Columbia. At LCE, Ms. Spangenberg handled civil matters involving fraud, debt collection, and real property tax foreclosures.
