Lawyer Overview
Dr. Christian Paul is a litigator who represents clients in patent litigation and other technology-related litigation. He combines a rare double qualification as an attorney and natural scientist (graduate chemist), with training in the fields of technical chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry, among others. His practice focuses on industrial high-tech applications and chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnological research and development.
Christian has served as trial counsel for international clients in litigation involving a wide range of patents, including biotechnology and pharmaceutical products, diagnostics, polymers, and chemical products. Prior to joining Jones Day, he practiced as a partner in the IP group of one of the major German law firms. Further to his doctorate degree in law, Christian holds the additional qualification as a German certified IP expert (Fachanwalt für Gewerblichen Rechtsschutz).
Christian is the author of a number of articles on computer/informatics, medical science/pharmacology, and intellectual property law. He is a member of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR), the Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP), and the California Association of Germany (CAOG).
