Lawyer Overview

Dr. Christian Paul advises clients in patent litigation as well as in other technology-related litigation. He is qualified as a natural scientist (graduate chemist), with training in the fields of technical chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry, among others. His practice focuses on industrial high-tech applications and chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnological research and development.

Christian has served as trial counsel for international clients in litigation involving a wide range of patents, and he has also represented companies in litigation regarding misappropriation of trade secrets. Prior to joining Jones Day, Christian practiced as a partner in the IP group of one of the major German law firms. He is accredited as a German certified IP expert (Fachanwalt für Gewerblichen Rechtsschutz).

Christian is the author of a number of articles on computer/informatics, medical science/pharmacology, and intellectual property law. He is a member of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR), the Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP), and the California Association of Germany (CAOG).
