Lawyer Overview
Dr. Andrew Cohen's practice focuses on intellectual property issues relating to chemistry, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology.
Andrew's doctoral research involved the study of the fundamental chemistry of nitroxyl (HNO), the development of novel thermal and photochemical precursors to HNO, and the use of time-resolved infrared spectroscopy to elucidate a variety of photochemical mechanisms. During his research, he utilized the techniques of synthetic organic, physical organic, and analytical chemistry. He has authored several papers in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his research at international conferences.
During his graduate work, Andrew was awarded the American Chemical Society Division of Organic Chemistry Graduate Fellowship, which is bestowed to 18 outstanding third- or fourth-year graduate students nationally.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Andrew was a scientific advisor and a practicing patent agent with the intellectual property law firm of Morgan & Finnegan.
