Lawyer Overview

My practice is a balance of litigation and transactional work for individuals and entities in primarily service-related industries.  The way I add value for clients starts by listening to them and communicating in plain English (no “legalese”) to build trust-based relationships.  I am good at turning a lot of complex information into a small, yet comprehensive and usable set of data from which I can identify key points to provide sound, objective advice and advocate with confidence. 

Typical clients include contractors and subcontractors with claims involving mechanic’s liens, breaches of contract, negligence, and unjust enrichment; consumers who have been taken advantage of by fraud or improper sales practices; commercial landlords; homeowners associations; restaurants; medical offices; and IT companies. 

When I am not involved in litigation (i.e., court-related work), I am usually drafting home improvement contracts (on behalf of contractors and subs), employment agreements, licensing agreements, residential and commercial leases, equipment leases, master service agreements, and purchase agreements.  I also advise corporate clients on various matters involving their incorporation and initial records (articles, bylaws, buy-sell agreements), hiring and firing employees, and negotiating deals with customers and suppliers. 

Outside of the office, I volunteer with the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic (http://www.nclegalclinic.org/) and The PourHouse (http://pourhouse.org/), and I enjoy spending time with my wife, friends, and family.  I also enjoy lifting weights, skiing and snowboarding, playing rec sports, and watching football.
