Lawyer Overview
Kurt P. Gruber practices in the real estate area of law with a special concentration in the resort and leisure industry, including resort condominiums, vacation ownership, hotels and motels, membership campgrounds, the exchange industry and the travel industry. In addition, Mr. Gruber has a real estate and business background to assist clients with such issues as land acquisition, development, transactional matters, property management and general real estate and corporate matters.
Most recently, Mr. Gruber served as Senior Vice President of Planning and Development and General Counsel for Island One, Inc., and Island One Resorts Management Corporation. In connection with his work in the resort and leisure industry, Mr. Gruber has actively participated in the development of vacation ownership projects for the major participants in the industry, including many of the best known multinational resort corporations. He also works closely with major management and exchange service groups. He is active in the American Resort Development Association (ARDA), the national trade organization for the timeshare and leisure industry and ARDA-Florida, ARDA’s Florida affiliate. Mr. Gruber has served on ARDA’s Resort Management Committee, Federal Issues Committee and State Legislative Committee, including chairing ARDA’s General Counsel Council.
Mr. Gruber’s experience with ARDA and the major industry players has enabled him to effectively participate in the drafting and negotiation of new legislation and regulations affecting the industry in numerous jurisdictions. Mr. Gruber has also used his experience as a solid foundation for authoring articles on vacation ownership, condominium and resort development. He has also served as a guest lecturer and conducting workshops on these issues, including serving as an adjunct professor at the University of Central Florida.
Mr. Gruber is a member of the American, Florida and Orange County Bar Associations.
