Lawyer Overview

Edna's practice is focused on tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, spin-offs, and the implications of international tax treaties. She advises clients on local tax matters and authorizations by government tax authorities, and she recently has represented Finca International, Ixe Bank, Goldman Sachs, Schroders, Templeton, and Dräger Medical.

Edna began her career in 1983 as an external auditor at the Public Taxpayer Services Administration in Mexico City. From 1985 to 1987, she worked at Freyssinier Morin, S.C. and at Price Waterhouse, S.C. (now PricewaterhouseCoopers). During this time she developed experience in external audits for global and local companies in the financial services industry. She later worked for four years in the tourism sector for the financial division of the Real Turismo group that owned the Camino Real hotels operated by Westin. Following that she worked for seven years in the financial division of the Grupo Hotelero Brisas, which develops financial strategies and coordinates external auditing and legal services for the Mexican Stock Exchange. In 1997, she joined De Ovando y Martínez del Campo, S.C., now Jones Day Mexico, where she was in charge of advising corporate lawyers and their clients on the tax effects of mergers, spin-offs, restructurings, capitalizations, and foreign investments.
