Lawyer Overview

Guillermo Larrea practices in the areas of general corporate, transactional, securities, and finance law, with a primary focus on mergers and acquisitions and business restructurings. He has participated in a number of equity and asset acquisitions and dispositions for Mexican and international companies in the steelmaking and chemicals industries, among others. Recent representative transactions in which he has played a key role include the acquisition of a chemical plant and the subscription of collateral in Querétaro, Mexico, certain credit refinancing for a publicly traded company on the Mexican Stock Market, and the sale of substantial assets of a major wholesale distributor in Mexico.

Guillermo is also active with financial entities, including mutual funds. Recently he assisted in the incorporation of asset management companies and mutual funds. In addition, he participates as an independent board member of asset management companies and mutual funds.

Guillermo has been instrumental in assisting clients with the implementation and follow up of corporate compliance programs, such as general company policies regarding code of conduct, anticorruption, antitrust, and insider trading; the certification process for the confirmation of regular compliance; training sessions geared to high-level directors and employees including CEOs and CFOs; and acting as internal comptroller or ombudsman in the review of compliance programs.

Guillermo lectures on corporate governance at the Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City.
