Law Firm Overview

The firm is focused on delivering personal and superior service to our clients during our effort to bring them financial health. We also handle general law practice cases as they may arise, including personal injury and operating under the influence matters, but remain focused on bankruptcy.

The origins of the firm date back to the mid-1970s. It was then that Attorney McCarthy had begun developing a law practice that emphasized long hours of hard work for bankruptcy and personal injury clients. After more than three decades of success, we are proud that Attorney McCarthy retired as a member of Cohen & Associates. The tradition of the way he practiced law is not only our history, but our priority.

The firm itself is located in a 150 year old haunted fire house. This building is on the trail of evening ghost tours in Salem, Massachusetts. In one of the rooms sat an unmarried, childless legal secretary who began her career in the early 1970s. The legend is that she loved her job for almost 30 years and treated her desk area like it was her home. When the lawyer she worked for retired, she had nothing left, in her mind, to live for. Seemingly in good health, she actually died on the job, at her desk, in her chair. Still today she is given a place to come and work and be happy. We try real hard to keep her happy.

Our staff of four attorneys and three paralegals has almost 170 years of combined experience. By being a small firm, we are able to know each case and each person. Our clients actually have small teams working on their matters. As lead attorney, all matters, cases and files are governed by Attorney Cohen. He takes full responsibility for each client of the firm. Proudly, we have many repeat clients who have come to us with other issues besides bankruptcy, and they trust the firm to handle them.
