Law Firm Overview

John Campbell is a 1990 graduate of Oklahoma State University. After graduating from Oklahoma State, he served in the United States Marine Corps as an artillery officer from 1990-1994. Mr. Campbell attended the University of Tulsa College of Law from 1994-1997. Mr. Campbell was admitted into the Oklahoma bar in 1997 and began practicing in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In 2005, Mr. Campbell was commissioned as a Captain in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps. In 2007, Mr. Campbell was mobilized and deployed to Iraq where he served as Defense Counsel for Soldiers deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Captain Campbell had the opportunity to represent hundreds of Soldiers facing courts martial charges, administrative proceedings, and non-judicial punishment.

Mr. Campbell is admitted to practice before all state and federal district and appellate courts in Oklahoma. Over the years, Mr. Campbell has been involved in the trial of numerous cases to jury verdict. He has also efficiently and effectively resolved hundreds of cases for his clients by obtaining favorable resolutions or settlements prior to trial.
 
Mr. Campbell is a member of the Tulsa County Bar Association and the Oklahoma Bar Association. He is married and has four children. In addition to his private practice, Mr. Campbell continues to serve as a Reserve Captain in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps.

MILITARY LAW

Most military lawyers have never done anything except military law. In order to be promoted, military attorneys are expected to know all aspects of military law. Most military law has nothing to do with courts martial trials. As such, they may have little or no experience as a defense attorney. You may be their very first case.

I have much more experience that greatly enhances my ability to represent you. My experience as a Marine combat arms officer gives me insight that many military lawyers do not share. I understand the challenge of command and the fog of war. With my experiences as a civilian lawyer, I draw on more than a decade of trial experience. I have represented hundreds of clients in state, federal and military courts. I know what it takes to put a trial together and win.

Many military lawyers are inexperienced and willing to agree to plea bargains that require you to plead guilty even before the government has demonstrated that it can prove anything at trial. It does not matter what the government thinks that it can prove. What matters is what evidence the government can actually put in front of a panel. You should be wary of any suggestion to waive your Article 32 hearing and plead guilty.
