Many consider estate planning to be a daunting task. Yet, our clients often find it to be a cathartic, organizational experience that not only ensures one's wishes are honored, but also minimizes taxes and administrative costs and preserves family harmony. Our job is to help you achieve these goals.
In our probate and estate administration practice, we guide our clients through the labyrinth of legalities that ensue when we lose a loved one. We aim to simplify the process as much as possible during what is always a difficult time.
Frequently, an important part of estate planning is the proper organization and eventual transfer of a small business. The decisions one makes at the formation stage of a business can have significant long-term repercussions. We counsel our clients as to the most appropriate business structure and help them construct a sound business foundation upon which the business can grow. Once the business is established, we assist our clients through the growing pains and inevitable challenges that all businesses endure.
Whether it is estate planning, estate administration or organizing a business, we want to help our clients understand the options available to them, make an informed decision and then to implement that plan accordingly.
We look forward to working with you.
Experience:
Before entering private practice in 2003, I served as an Associate with G.W. & Wade, Inc. in Wellesley, Massachusetts, where my practice concentrated on tax, estate planning and financial matters. During my tenure with G.W. & Wade, I also earned certification as a NASD Registered Securities Representative and Investment Adviser Representative (Series 7 & 66). This experience has proved invaluable to me in the fields of trusts and estates and business organizations.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
