Lawyer Overview

Ellinor Coder's practice focuses on litigation and counseling in matters involving ERISA, labor, contracts, products liability, bankruptcy, and other commercial disputes. Ellinor's experience covers all stages of litigation from responding to and drafting complaints through discovery, motion practice, class certification, summary judgment, and trial.

In her pro bono practice, Ellinor has helped obtain favorable resolutions in two disability benefits cases on behalf of clients referred to the Firm through the AIDS Legal Referral Panel, an organization that provides legal services to people living with HIV/AIDS in the San Francisco Bay Area. She also secured a restraining order on behalf of an indigent domestic violence victim, assisted clients asserting their constitutional rights to religious freedom, and favorably settled a residential mold dispute. Ellinor serves on the planning committee of the Bay Area chapter of the National Association of Women Lawyers.

In her service in the United States Coast Guard Reserve, Ellinor is assigned to Sector San Francisco as a foreign vessel examiner and reserve training officer. She has previously served as a command duty officer, pollution investigator, security boarding team member, and homeland security exercise planning team member in North Carolina and Maryland. Prior to practicing law, Ellinor worked as an emergency management and homeland security consultant for the federal government and numerous state and local agencies. Her experience includes drafting incident management plans and developing emergency preparedness exercises.

In law school, Ellinor clerked for the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Civil Division of the United States Department of Justice.
