Law Firm Overview

At the law firm of Robert L. Tankel, P.A., we represent condominium and homeowner associations in collections and other issues in St. Petersburg, Tampa, Clearwater, Brandon, and throughout Florida, including Jacksonville and Fernandina Beach.

The firm was formed in 1997, after Robert Tankel practiced community association law for 15 years with other law firms. Mr. Tankel is admitted to practice law throughout Florida, and in federal court in the Middle District of Florida. He is a graduate of the University of Florida, with a B.A. in Political Science in 1978. He obtained his J.D. with honors at the University of Florida, where he was a member of the Law Review and President of the John Marshall Bar Association, as well as a member of Florida Blue Key.

This law firm has one goal: provide clients and their community association managers with a collection system where all fees and costs are advanced, from preparation of the initial demand letter to a sale on the courthouse steps. The firm looks to the delinquent owner to pay all legal fees and costs caused by non-payment.

The firm's approach to representation is simple. We provide cost-effective representation combined with good client communication. Contrary to popular belief, the firm has found that clients are more concerned about whether their lawyer cares about the client and is responsive to their needs rather than the outcome of a particular case or matter. We use e-mail, videos, and phone to keep our clients up to date on their case.

We have a proprietary online collections system for condominium and homeowner associations. It keeps managers and client representatives up-to-date in real time, without having to call the treasurer or the community association manager. Instead, each client has a unique login and password to gain access to their information.
