Summary

Lawyer Overview

From her first day at Georgia State University College of Law, Amanda Clark Palmer knew she wanted to practice criminal law and represent the accused to safeguard their liberty and protect their constitutional rights. While her focus on criminal law was clear, her approach to that goal was a bit unusual: She first got a B.S. degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, with honors, from Georgia Tech in 2001, then she worked for General Electric for several years before deciding to follow in her father's and mother's footsteps to become a lawyer. Engineering may not be a typical field of undergraduate study for an aspiring lawyer, but the analytical and meticulous demands of engineering are well suited to Amanda's detail-oriented mind.

"I am drawn to the analytical side of preparing a defense, to figuring out the importance and relevance of a document or a fact," she said. "Thorough analysis is vital in preparing a strong defense."

In 2006 she became a legal intern with Garland, Samuel & Loeb and became an associate of the firm after being admitted to the Georgia Bar Association in 2008.

She was selected for the 10th Annual Bill Daniel Trial Advocacy Program conducted by the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL) in 2009. Limited to 30 participants, the four-day program is an intensive seminar on enhanced trial techniques conducted by dedicated and experienced criminal defense practitioners.

She has experience at the state and federal level and has been involved in several notable cases:

Ms. Clark Palmer was part of the legal team that represented hip-hop rapper Clifford Harris, a/k/a "T.I.", and orchestrated his successful completion of 1,000 hours of community service prior to his sentencing date.

In a multi-million federal bribery and fraud case, Ms. Clark Palmer was part of the legal team that obtained a rare dismissal of all charges for their client, a government contractor.
