Law Firm Overview

I am a sole practitioner dedicated to meeting the legal and financial needs of my clients who are making difficult, and often painful, decisions for themselves and their families. My practice centers around exploring all legal options involved with divorce, child support, parenting time, paternity matters, property distribution, spousal maintenance, modifications to existing orders and agreements, and much more. To facilitate my clients' needs in moving forward with their lives, I provide help with simple wills, trusts, power of attorneys and health care declarations.

I offer a one-hour free consultation for my family law services, which can take place at my office or over the phone. You must schedule your consultation in advance. Unfortunately, I do not provide free legal services for adults. My volunteer time is committed to serving children only.

Also, as a certified and registered mediator with the State of Indiana, I mediate a variety of family, civil and special education disputes, including, but not limited to, pre- and post-divorce matters and parenting time. I firmly believe mediation can empower couples to make creative and satisfying decisions about their futures after divorce. I am a huge advocate for mediation (even if you don't use me)!!

Prior to starting my own family law practice in June 2007, I practiced in employment and labor law at Gilliland and Markette LLP and Bose, McKinney and Evans LLP. I also served as in-house counsel for a residential care company that had offices in two states. I decided to switch my concentration to family law after becoming involved with a number of child advocacy centers, including Girls, Inc. and Chaucie's Place of Hamilton County. My work as Guardian ad Litem through Kids' Voice of Indiana also fueled my decision to assist families through the process and changes inherent with divorce. I choose to be a sole practitioner because it helps me control my costs and what I bill my clients.

I worked for more than a decade as a magazine editor and journalist in Chicago, my home town, before pursuing law.
