Lawyer Overview

Chad Burris is a member of the Chickasaw Nation and is a native of Oklahoma. Mr. Burris became Of Counsel to the law firm of Doerner, Saunders, Daniel, & Anderson in 2008 and practices in its Indian Law Practice and Entertainment Law Practice Groups.

He is a graduate of the University of Tulsa College of Law, where he received his J.D. with an emphasis in Indian Law. He devoted much of his time in law school toward developing programs that would attract, through federal economic development incentives, film production to Indian country.

Mr. Burris is also a film producer. He produced the award winning feature films Four Sheets to the Wind and Barking Water by writer/director Sterlin Harjo. Both films premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and went on to participate in many notable festivals around the world. He was awarded the Sundance Institute's Mark Silverman Award for 2007 for his accomplishments as a new producer.

As the owner of the Oklahoma based Indion Entertainment Group (IEG), he facilitates financing and production for projects shooting in Oklahoma. The company utilizes Oklahoma state tax incentives to encourage local investment in film projects.

Mr. Burris is on the advisory board for the Oklahoma State Film Commission, where he serves as a Creative Ambassador for the State of Oklahoma through its Creativity Initiative, serves as an advisory director for a local non-profit film festival, is the Entertainment Law chair for the local bar association, founded the Artist Assistance Program Tulsa Lawyers for the Arts, and speaks frequently on panels and conferences regarding Film and Entertainment Llaw. Mr. Burris also works closely with local and state groups to encourage support of the arts in Oklahoma.
