Chad Burris is a member of the Chickasaw Nation and is a native of
He is a graduate of the University of Tulsa College of Law, where he received his J.D. with an emphasis in Indian Law. He devoted much of his time in law school toward developing programs that would attract, through federal economic development incentives, film production to Indian country.
Mr. Burris is also a film producer. He produced the award winning feature films Four Sheets to the Wind and Barking Water by writer/director Sterlin Harjo. Both films premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and went on to participate in many notable festivals around the world. He was awarded the Sundance Institute's Mark Silverman Award for 2007 for his accomplishments as a new producer.

Mr. Burris is on the advisory board for the Oklahoma State Film Commission, where he serves as a Creative Ambassador for the State of Oklahoma through its Creativity Initiative, serves as an advisory director for a local non-profit film festival, is the Entertainment Law chair for the local bar association, founded the Artist Assistance Program Tulsa Lawyers for the Arts, and speaks frequently on panels and conferences regarding Film and Entertainment Llaw.
