Lawyer Overview

Paula Knippa is an integral part of the Slack and Davis’s dynamic litigation team, particularly in the area of federal court practice. She represents clients in a range of litigation matters, including aviation accidents, complex commercial litigation, business torts, products liability and personal injury.

Because of the national scope of Slack & Davis’ aviation practice in particular, Ms. Knippa has developed extensive experience in both federal court and multi-state practice.  She is especially well-versed in analyzing, briefing and resolving such complex issues as forum non conveniens, choice-of-law considerations and disputes, Montreal and Warsaw convention interpretations, federal jurisdiction questions and Daubert analyses.

Prior to joining Slack & Davis, Ms. Knippa, an accredited Spanish-to-English translator, ran a successful translation practice, principally focusing on legal and commercial transactions. As a translator, she had a unique opportunity to address legal issues and concerns frequently raised in commercial transactions – with an international twist.

Ms. Knippa graduated with honors from The University of Texas School of Law where she was a well-regarded member of the Texas Law Review. In fact, her paper, “Primary Jurisdiction Doctrine and the Circumforaneous Litigant,” not only received an “outstanding note” award from the outgoing editorial board of the Texas Law Review, it was selected for publication by the incoming editorial board of the Review (Texas Law Review, April 2007, Volume 85, Number 5) as well. Ms. Knippa’s clients at Slack & Davis have benefited from the focus, attention to detail and analytical skills she honed at the Texas Law Review.

Ms. Knippa is a member of the Travis County Women Lawyers Association, Austin Bar Association, American Bar Association, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Capital Area Trial Lawyers Association and Austin Young Lawyers Association.
