Lawyer Overview

Laurent Assaya's experience includes a unique combination of cross-border M&A transactions, financing work, and distressed M&A deals. He acts in both formal bankruptcies and out-of-court restructurings of financially troubled companies, representing corporate debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, and investors acquiring distressed assets and businesses. His significant experience representing investors and creditors includes Eurotunnel, Nortene, and Autodis. Laurent is coordinator of the Business Restructuring & Reorganization Practice in Jones Day's Paris Office.

Laurent has published and lectured on French and transnational corporate governance, financing, and restructuring matters. He is a member of ARE (Association pour le Retournement des Entreprises), TMA (Turnaround Management Association), and AFFIC (Association Française en faveur de l'Institution Consulaire).

After starting his professional career in 1995 at Gide Loyrette Nouel, Laurent worked at Fried Frank, in Paris and New York, from 1997 to 2008. He joined Jones Day in March 2008.
