Lawyer Overview

Yi Wang's practice focuses on cross-border mergers and acquisitions. Yi has counseled clients on international investment and financing matters. He has structured, negotiated, drafted, coordinated, and implemented investment projects, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, commercial contracts, technology transfers, employment, and other transactional matters in a wide variety of industries, including semiconductors, automotive, electronics, telecommunications, consumer products, chemicals, machinery, photographic films, thermal dynamics, plastics, medical devices, and logistics.

Before entering private practice, Yi clerked with the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), where he participated in the regulation and central government project approvals of cross-border transactions by multinationals and leading Chinese enterprises as well as in the drafting, negotiation, and implementation of bilateral and multilateral trade and investment treaties. Prior to joining Jones Day, Yi spent four and a half years working at prominent international law firms and at a Chinese law firm where he focused on resolving cross-border trade and investment problems. During this time Yi assisted Fortune 500 multinationals in a wide range of industries to assure WTO compliance in tandem with their consolidation of Asiawide operational vehicles to control and expand business operations to the fullest extent permitted in China. He also served as legal counsel to the Chinese government in resolving the first U.S.-China semiconductor trade and investment dispute in 2004.

Yi is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Hokkien/Taiwanese, and English.
