Attorney Christopher A. Maruca is a Senior Partner in The Maruca Law Firm, LLC and is its Chief Financial Officer. Attorney Maruca is originally from the Washington D.C. area and is a graduate of Bishop McNamara High School in Forestville, Maryland. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, which he attended on a full football scholarship. Attorney Maruca received his Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law.
After graduating from college, Attorney Maruca worked in Annapolis, Maryland in the State Capital Building as an aide to Senator Michael Miller, and was later hired as a paralegal at the law firm of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner in Washington, D.C. While in law school, Attorney Maruca obtained a clerkship with the law firm of Meyer, Unkovic, and Scott in Pittsburgh, where he worked full time while attending law school at night. Following law school, Attorney Maruca was hired as an associate attorney with this same firm. Attorney Maruca received his license to practice law for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1996 and the State of Ohio in 1998. Subsequently, he joined the law firm of Betras, Maruca, & Kopp as the managing attorney in 1998. After becoming partner and Chief Financial Officer, the firm became Betras, Maruca, Kopp & Harshman in 2005, where Attorney Maruca continued in his previous roles and was also named head of the domestic relations practice until January of 2011 when he joined The Maruca Law Firm.
Attorney Maruca currently practices primarily in the areas of personal injury, domestic relations/juvenile law, criminal law and corporate/business law. He has tried civil, domestic relations, and criminal cases in counties throughout the State of Ohio. Attorney Maruca has represented the interests of individuals who have been injured due to the negligence of others and he has been successful in resolving those claims either through mediation or by jury trial. He has also represented the interests of children and families in matters involving divorce, dissolution, custody, child/spousal support, antenuptial agreements, pre-divorce/dissolution legal counseling, adoptions, paternity, domestic violence, grandparents/third party custody and visitation in Ohio and Pennsylvania. He has also handled criminal cases in both state and federal court. Attorney Maruca also represents businesses and corporations in the state of Ohio in all matters pertaining to their business activities. Typically, his representation extends to three counties in Ohio -- Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana Counties (with offices in all three counties), and Mercer, Beaver and Allegheny counties in Pennsylvania -- but upon request he has represented individuals and families in other counties in Ohio, such as Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Portage, Jefferson, Summit, Medina and Carroll.
