Lawyer Overview

Christian Funke practices in the area of German and international tax law. He works primarily on international M&A transactions and advises on post-acquisition structuring as well as investors on real estate transactions. Before joining Jones Day, Christian worked in the tax division of a major U.K. law firm in Frankfurt.

Christian's experience includes advising private equity funds in acquisitions and consulting on and the structuring of private equity funds, including initiatory participation. He also has advised international companies on German and international tax issues, particularly on tax optimized in- or outbound investment structures of international clients. Furthermore, he has experience in the tax structuring of equity and debt finance instruments. He recently advised Lehman Brothers and LaSalle on real estate acquisitions in Germany and advised Morgan Stanley on private equity funds tax issues.
