Lawyer Overview

Dr. Steve Chen's practice focuses in the areas of pharmaceuticals and biotechnical arts. He prosecutes patents for domestic and overseas clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Dr. Chen has significant scientific research experience and has conducted research in a multidisciplinary area combining bioinformatics, structural biology, chemistry, and molecular biology.

Prior to his career in law, Dr. Chen worked as an investigator on structure-based drug design at a pharmaceutical company in Cambridge, Massachusetts. While in graduate school, Dr. Chen co-designed and implemented the first online biomolecule binding database aiming at experimental data under the supervision of Dr. Michael Gilson. Dr. Chen has authored or coauthored eight scientific publications that have appeared in medical journals such as Cancer Research, Oncogene, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biotechnology, Nucleic Acids Sciences, and Combinatorial Chemistry & High Throughput Screening. He also worked as a summer associate at Bristol-Myers Squibb.
